Why Spend a Month in Korea
A full month gives you time to experience Korea beyond the greatest-hits reel. You can do Seoul and the major cities at a normal pace, add a temple stay, spend a week on Jeju, and sneak in lesser-known gems like Andong, Suncheon or Seoraksan. It also keeps you comfortably within the 90-day visa-waiver window for most US/UK/EU/AU/NZ/CA/JP passports.
Verify visa-waiver and K-ETA status at hikorea.go.kr and k-eta.go.kr before booking. The K-ETA costs ₩10,000 and is valid for up to three years, with most applicants needing to apply at least 72 hours before flying.
Week-by-Week Route
Week 1 — Seoul & Surroundings
Seoul palaces, Bukchon, Hongdae, Myeongdong, DMZ day tour, War Memorial, N Seoul Tower, Han River and day trip to Suwon's UNESCO-listed Hwaseong Fortress.
Week 2 — Historic & Southwest Korea
KTX to Gyeongju (UNESCO sites Bulguksa and Seokguram), then Andong for Hahoe Folk Village, and on to Jeonju for hanok village and bibimbap. End the week in Gwangju or Mokpo.
Week 3 — South Coast & Busan
Suncheon Bay wetlands, Yeosu night cable car, Tongyeong fishing villages, and finally Busan for Haeundae, Gamcheon, Jagalchi and Beomeosa Temple. Great for a relaxing base of 4-5 nights.
Week 4 — Jeju Island
Fly Busan → Jeju (1h), rent a car and spend a full week circling the island. Cover Seongsan Ilchulbong, Manjanggul lava tube, Hallasan summit hike, Jusangjeolli cliffs and the west coast beaches. Fly back to Seoul or direct international on your departure day.
Off-the-Beaten-Path Adds
- Seoraksan National Park — Korea's most dramatic peaks, best in mid-October foliage.
- Ulleungdo Island — 3-hour ferry from Gangwon province, volcanic and uncrowded.
- Damyang bamboo forest near Gwangju.
- Boseong green tea fields — photogenic and relaxing.
- Templestay at Golgulsa, Beomeosa or Haeinsa.
Build 2-3 flex days into the month so you can chase better weather, extend a city you love or add a sudden festival.
