What Are 83 Tower & E-World?

83 Tower (formerly Woobang Tower) is Daegu's tallest landmark at 202 meters, standing atop a hill in Duryu Park in the city's southwest. At its base is E-World, a European-themed amusement park with rides, gardens, restaurants and Korea's largest LED light installation.

Together they form Daegu's most popular family attraction and one of the city's best nighttime destinations. The observation deck offers 360-degree views of the city basin, and E-World's illuminated grounds transform into a light show after dark.

83 Tower — Observation Deck

The observation deck sits at 177 meters, offering panoramic views of Daegu's skyline and the surrounding mountain ring — Apsan to the south, Palgongsan to the north. The deck includes glass-floor sections, coin-operated binoculars and a small sky lounge cafe.

  • Hours: 10:00-21:00 (last entry 20:30). Extended hours during festivals.
  • Glass floor section on the south side — safe but thrilling for anyone nervous about heights.
  • Sunset visits offer the best views, transitioning from daytime cityscape to night lights.
  • The sky lounge cafe serves coffee and light snacks. Americano ₩5,000-6,000.
Visit 83 Tower 30 minutes before sunset. You get both the daytime mountain panorama and the city lights turning on — the best of both worlds.

E-World — Rides & Attractions

E-World is a mid-size amusement park at the base of 83 Tower, themed around European architecture with a mix of thrill rides, family rides and landscaped gardens. It is not on the scale of Lotte World or Everland, but it is less crowded and more affordable.

Key Rides

  • Boomerang — inverted roller coaster, the park's signature thrill ride.
  • Sky Jump — bungee-style free-fall from 83 Tower.
  • Mega Swing — giant pendulum ride.
  • Fantasy Cruise — family boat ride through animated scenes.
  • Bumper cars, carousel and teacups — classics for younger children.

Flower Gardens

E-World's landscaped grounds include themed flower gardens that change seasonally — tulips in spring, roses in summer, chrysanthemums in autumn. The gardens are included in park admission.

Starlight Festival & Events

E-World's Starlight Festival runs annually from roughly March through November, transforming the park after dark with millions of LED lights, illuminated sculptures and themed photo zones. It is one of Korea's largest light festivals and a major draw for couples and photographers.

  • Lights switch on at sunset (roughly 18:00-19:00 depending on season).
  • The illumination trail winds through the gardens and around 83 Tower.
  • Themed zones change yearly — past themes include fairy tales, constellations and K-pop.
  • Live performances and busking on weekends during the festival.

Other seasonal events include a beer festival in summer, Halloween events in October and a Christmas market in December.

For the Starlight Festival, arrive around 17:00 — ride some attractions in daylight, then enjoy the lights as they switch on.
