Why 14 Days Is the Ideal Length

Two weeks is the ideal amount of time for a complete South Korea trip. You get 4-5 days in Seoul without rushing, a full DMZ experience, the historic capital of Gyeongju, beaches and seafood in Busan, and volcanic Jeju Island. It's also enough time to slow down, do a temple stay, and eat your way through every Korean regional specialty.

This itinerary is designed for first-time visitors arriving at Incheon (ICN) and departing from either ICN or Jeju (CJU). Most visa-waiver nationals (US/UK/EU/AU/NZ/CA/JP) can stay 90 days, but you'll typically need a K-ETA (₩10,000, apply at k-eta.go.kr at least 72 hours before flying) unless you qualify for the current exemption list. Verify at hikorea.go.kr.

14 days is well within the 90-day visa-waiver window, so you have plenty of buffer if you want to add a beach day or a side trip.

Not at all. 14 days gives you Seoul, Gyeongju, Busan and Jeju without rushing. Many travelers wish they'd planned even longer once they arrive.

Do I need to rent a car in Korea?

Only for Jeju Island. The mainland has excellent KTX, buses and city subway systems. Bring an International Driving Permit if you want to drive in Jeju.

How much does 2 weeks in Korea cost?

Around ₩2.5-2.7 million (US$1,900-2,000) per person for a mid-range trip including hotels, food, transport, flights and tours.

What's the best month for this 2-week itinerary?

Mid-April for cherry blossoms or late October for autumn foliage. Both are peak seasons, so book ahead.

Can I include a temple stay?

Yes. Swap one Busan or Gyeongju night for a templestay.or.kr booking at Golgulsa or Beomeosa for an authentic Buddhist experience.
