Why Visit Daegu?

Daegu is Korea's fourth-largest city, tucked into a bowl of mountains in the country's southeast. It's the textile capital (Korea's "Milan"), home to a 400-year-old medicine market, and has some of the country's most atmospheric old alleys. It also sits directly between Seoul and Busan on the KTX line, making it an excellent 1-2 day stop on the main Korea corridor.

Base in Dongseongno — the central shopping district and transit hub. Most tourist interest is within a 2-km radius. Palgongsan mountain and the giant Buddha at Donghwasa temple are a day trip 40 min outside the city.

Best time: April-June and September-October. Daegu is famously the hottest place in Korea in summer — locals call it "the hot city". Summer can hit 38°C.
