What Is Suseongmot Lake?

Suseongmot (수성못) is a man-made reservoir in Suseong-gu, Daegu's most upscale residential district. Originally built for irrigation in 1925, it has been transformed into the city's premier lakeside leisure area — a 2 km paved loop encircles the water, flanked by cafes, restaurants, cherry blossom trees and illuminated walking paths.

The lake's main draw is its musical fountain, which fires synchronized water jets set to music and colored lights on summer evenings. Combined with the surrounding Suseong Land family park and direct metro access, it makes an easy and relaxing half-day or evening outing.

Musical Fountain

The Suseongmot Musical Fountain is one of Daegu's signature attractions. Jets of water up to 35 meters high dance in choreographed patterns synchronized to K-pop, classical music and dramatic lighting.

  • Season: Typically April to October (weather dependent).
  • Show times: Usually 20:00 and 21:00 on weekends, 20:00 on weekdays. Schedules vary — check the Suseong-gu website.
  • Duration: Each show runs 15-20 minutes.
  • Best viewing: The lakeside promenade near the main plaza. Arrive 15 minutes early for a good spot on weekends.
  • Admission: Free.
The 21:00 weekend show tends to be less crowded than the 20:00 show. Grab a coffee from one of the lakeside cafes and settle in.
